Starting the Machame trail At kilitreks and Safaris we have dedicated office staff, safari and climbing teams and the best quality equipment, maintained to the highest standard (new equipment purchased for 2013 season).

Once we receive your booking, we put all the logistics and trained local people in place so you can sit back and enjoy your vacation time with us.

Tailor-made Tanzania safari prices are based on the wildlife areas visited, the number of safari days, the safari accommodation requested and the number of people in the booking. Our popular safari programs are each priced individually with inclusions and exclusions clearly stated.

Please consider when booking your safari that park fees are different depending on the wildlife areas included in the program. For example safaris including Serengeti National Park or Ngorongoro Crater.

The service conditions on this web page apply to Kilimanjaro and safari bookings for a minimum of two people.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

How to book your Kilimanjaro climb or wildlife safari:
We prefer you to use the booking forms for set safari programs, tailor-made safaris and Kilimanjaro climb programs.
However, you can also send your requests on the enquiry form if you prefer.

Kilimanjaro Climb Service

Kilimanjaro Climb Service and Equipment Includes:

Kilimanjaro climbing and travel information pack
Complimentary meet and greet on arrival at Kilimanjaro airport
Kilimanjaro International Airport and hotel transfers on arrival and departure in private tourist licensed vehicles
Arrival and post climb accommodation provided in tourist class hotel; 2 nights with bed and breakfast included (luxury hotel upgrade available on request)
Welcome orientation
Baggage handling and safe storage
Pre-departure climb briefing and personal equipment check with your guide at a pre-arranged time convenient for you
National Park gate transfers in rugged, tourist licensed vehicle(s)
National Park permits and fees
Kilimanjaro rescue fees
Emergency air rescue provided by AMREF Flying Doctors
Camping or hut fees - as appropriate to the route
KINAPA approved salaries paid promptly to the mountain crew
Camping equipment (camping routes only) – spacious Vaude or Northface tents and sleeping pad
Mountain hut accommodation (Marangu route only).
A-frame wooden huts sleeping 4 people in seperate bunk-beds
Excellent mountain crew ratio per climber e.g. 3 porters per climber on camping routes

Kilimanjaro Upgrade Service - please request for additional services to be included within your quotation:

Adjustment day - To include a hotel night on arrival and a guided walk to explore Marangu and the Kilimanjaro foothills (with the option of hiking up to an altitude of 1800m)
Bottled drinking water for the duration of the climb, to include 3lts branded bottled water each day, carriage and disposal fee (small groups only)
Oxygen cylinder per climbing group
A 15K maximum baggage weight per climber is allocated. Extra baggage weight (e.g. heavy photographic equipment) to be carried by the porters may incur an additional charge for carriage
Personal porter to carry a climbers day pack
Additional private vehicle transfers to/from Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Tanzania Safari Service

There are essentially three types of accommodation for your safari :

Tanzania Safai Lodges: Safari lodges provide facilities comparable to international 3* 4* & 5* hotels. All are located in stunning locations inside and outside the wildlife areas and some provide a swimming pool. The lodge service we book for our guests is always full-board - all meals and bottled water.
Tanzania Tented Camps: Tented camps are set up in remote but equally stunning locations. They can be either permanent or semi-permanent sites (i.e. sited to catch the migration activity). Tents are spacious and offer a level of comfort you would wish for on your dream safari: Solar lighting, heated water, bathroom, comfortable beds, bed linen, 'room' service, bar, resturant and some with swimming pool
Tanzania Camping Safari: A camping safari is for the adventurous traveler and not a luxury option. On a camping safari the vehicle in which you travel will also transport all equipment, water, food and your safari chef to the campsite. On reaching the campsite, the chef will remain to organize setting up camp and prepare your food while you continue with game driving. Your tents and a sumptious meal will be ready for your return. You will sleep on sleeping pads in spacious canvas safari tents (with ground sheet and mosquito netting). There will be tables, chairs and dining equipment provided. At some camp sites there are flush toilets and showers. However, in campsites located in the Serengeti, facilities are more basic (pit toilets but no showers) to prevent attracting animals to the site. Water is available from storage tanks.

Safaris are priced individually based on the wildlife areas visited, the chosen accommodation, the number of people booking together and the number of days on safari.

If you wish to visit wildlife areas located in southern Tanzania, we work with your tailor-made safari requests to provide fly-drive safaris i.e. fly-in to the location and 4X4 vehicle game viewing (boating and walking in some areas are also possible)

Unlike some other companies, we do not join people together on safari. Our wildlife safaris are for you and your travel partners. Take a look at the tanzania safari programs page to book one of our popular safaris or send us your 'wish list' for a tailor-made safari.

Some of our guests request a safari with an additional activity (Kili trekking or Zanzibar island). We check your dates and quote for hotel nights (before and after safari) and airport transfers accordingly.

- full-board - all safari meals and bottled drinking water
Tanzania camping safari includes:
- safari tent, sleeping mattress, dining table, chairs
- Services of a trained chef, 3 meals a day
- Some itineraries include hot showers
