Tour Ref: WS - 5
Day 1: Arrive in Kilimanjaro airport and transfer to your hotel for overnight.
Day 2: Your driver/guide will meet you at your hotel location after breakfast to begin the drive to Tarangire National Park. Taking a picnic lunch, enter the wildlife park and enjoy an afternoon game driving. The park is home to large herds of elephant and famous for it's ancient baobab forest. Dinner and overnight at the Tented Camp.
Day 3: Leave your tented camp for the short journey to enter Lake Manyara National Park. Spend the day exploring the different environments. Lake Manyara is an ancient soda lake and a stop off for flocks of flamingo. You can also anticipate seeing tree climbing lions.
Day 4: After breakfast, begin the journey to Serengeti. Crossing the Ngorongoro Conservation Area will give you many opportunities for wildlife viewing and possible sightings of most of the 'big five'. Arrive at the Tented Camp in the early evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Taking a picnic lunch, enjoy a full day exploring the Serengeti. The drive will depend on the location and activities of the wildlife. During the migration season, your game driving route will be aimed towards seeing the spectacular migration activity. Return to the Tented Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: This is another opportunity for Serengeti game driving. Explore different locations or return to a special place.
You have the option to include an early morning balloon flight before rejoining your vehicle to continue the day exploring the Serengeti.
The balloon rises with the sun and floats with the wind. Flying above the tree tops offers a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below. Ascending to 1000m or more presents a wonderful panorama of the Serengeti. The flight takes about one hour. On landing, a 'champagne' full English bush breakfast awaits you and your Serengeti Balloon certificate will be awarded (balloon safaris are priced separately).
Day 7: Expect an early wake up call to start your day with a dawn game drive during the coolest part of the day, a time of much activity. Return to the Tented Camp for breakfast. After breakfast, leave the Serengeti and return through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying wildlife viewing en-route. Stop for a picnic lunch at Oldovai Gorge, an archeological site referred to as 'the cradle of mankind'. At this site were found 1.75 million year old human remains. The journey ends at the Tented Camp near to the rim of Ngorongoro crater for relaxation before dinner.
Day 8: After breakfast descend the steep sided track to the floor of Ngorongoro Crater passing Maasai cattle herders who share the crater ecosystem. Your morning game drive to explore the vast caldera presents many opportunities for lingering to watch the activities of the wildlife. After enjoying a picnic lunch, leave the crater to return east to Kilimanjaro Airport for an evening international flight departure or to a hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a final overnight.
