Set among steep sloping bananas and coffee plantations, this small town is the gateway for Kilimanjaro climbers and home to the Chagga people.

You will be picked up from your hotel location in the morning for your journey to Marangu. You will stay overnight in the Babylon Hotel.

In one or two days in Marangu you will be exploring interesting and historic places and greeting friendly villagers in the company of a local guide.

Included in your tour are visits to Ndoro and Monjo waterfalls (you can take a swim in the cool waters at Monjo), a traditional Chagga house, 'hiding' caves (where the local Chagga tribe hid from enforced labour), a traditional blacksmith (they accept commissions), Ngangu (look-out) hill and Kilimanjaro National Park gate.

Consider adding this tour as a day trip on arrival to Tanzania. It will provide an excellent opportunity to relax and recover from your long-haul flight and is also good for Kilimanjaro climbers to adjust to the terrain and climate before starting their ascent.
